SO18 Big Local wants to see better and wider use of the outside spaces across the neighbourhoods, e.g. with more/better used play areas, more seating, picnic areas and so on. We are keen to get local people out and about and enjoying the green areas on their doorsteps so keep a watch on our events page for the next opportunity to enjoy your local green space with other local people. You can also see our Local Walks page for lots of local walking routes and our Top Tips for enjoying them!
We also want to establish what wildlife is present in the communities and work to encourage more, and see increased use of the outdoor space by young people in particular. In Townhill Park & Midanbury we are working with the City Council to look at developing use of Frogs Copse and Cutbush Hidden Pond, and exploring ideas such as better signage and increased resident participation in the management of these areas.
We are working with Harefield Primary on ideas based in Harefield Woods, and across all the neighbourhoods we want to develop a network of local walks, which has clear links to our Wellbeing theme.
